Literary Response

I believe that the theme of the book is always believe in yourself in the book of Out Of My Mind.

The thing that I thought stood out the most is, Melody never gave up on herself. Here a few examples of what I thought the theme was in the book, “And what’s more,” she continued,”I think you’re wrong- I know your wrong. Melody has more brains than you’ll ever have.”

At this point the book shows the theme that you have to believein yourself, just because you may have a disability doesn’t mean that you can’t be extremely smart. “Sit down Connor the teacher said with exasperation you did well, but you don’t get the candy, who beat me. Mr Demming cleared his throat and said Melody is the winner with a perfect score.

One other thing I thought the book showed that you have to believe in yourself, so what you have a disability that doesn’t mean you can’t have a friend. ” I think about Rose all the time. I worry that she will change her mind and wont like me. But Rose talks about me like I understand, and she tries to figure out what I’m saying as well.”

From the book I think you shouldn’t let anyone tell you or get in the way just because you have a disability.

Sharon Draper’s writing

I like how Sharon Draper wrote Out of My Mind.
Sharon Draper hooked you as a reader. I did not want to put the book down, because she helped you understand what the characters in the story were going though. ” tell you something, Doctor, there is no way l am putting Melody in a nursing home.

Sharon Draper could make you laugh so hard. ” I liked to make her laugh, so I’d put the words into wacky order sometimes.”

When Saron Draper wrote Out of My Mind she made you what see what she wrote. It was like you were right beside the characters in the story. ” My dad’s eyes started to tear up.”

That is what I thought that’s what stood out in Sharon Draper’s writing Out of My Mind
